STEP SIX:
ACCESS LHIN FUNDS FOR TOBACCO TREATMENT
Throughout our journey to our present stance on tobacco, the Champlain LHIN has been an extremely supportive partner and benefactor.
Our LHIN, just like every other medical association or body, sees smoking as a leading preventable threat to health and longevity. In its 2013-14 business plan, the LHIN states it will work with its public health partners, primary care practitioners and Providers to implement change guided by Health Quality Ontario priorities (e.g. avoidable hospitalizations) and provincial strategies, such as smoking cessation.
Throughout the years, we have used funding from the LHIN for tobacco related strategies such as:
Libertas Workshops
Tobacco Healing resources and tools, such as The Tobacco Manual(www.thetobaccomanual.com)
Additional training such as the Tobacco Addiction Specialist (TAS) certification for staff (www.caccf.ca)
